Dump truck unable to lift? 3-minute self-check to quickly locate the fault source

date:2026-01-29

When your dump truck becomes unable to lift, there is no need to rush to send it for repair. Following the following steps for quick troubleshooting can help you initially identify the cause of the fault and efficiently restore the operating efficiency of the dump truck.

1. Check the hydraulic oil system

Hydraulic oil volume: First check whether the oil level in the hydraulic oil tank is sufficient. Insufficient oil volume will directly affect the lifting strength of the dump truck;

Oil quality inspection: Observe whether the hydraulic oil is turbid, contains bubbles or impurities. Deteriorated oil will cause insufficient pressure in the hydraulic system of the dump truck;

Filter cleaning: Check and clean the dump truck hydraulic tank filter. A clogged filter will seriously restrict the flow of oil.

2. Troubleshoot gas path problems

Limit valve inspection: Put the hand control valve in the lifting state, check the limit valve next to the dump truck cylinder base, remove the two connected air pipes, and confirm whether the air pressure is normal;

The valve core is stuck: If the air pipe pressure is normal but the dump truck is still unable to lift, it may be that the limit valve is stuck, and you can spray a small amount of screw loosening agent to deal with it;

Pipe leaks: Check all gas line connections of the dump truck for air leaks.

3. Check the hydraulic pump and cylinder

Oil pump seal: Air leakage from the hydraulic oil pump oil seal will cause insufficient pressure. Check the dump truck oil pump for oil leakage;

Oil cylinder leakage: Check whether the oil seal of the dump truck's lifting cylinder is leaking, whether the screws are loose, or whether there is leakage in the pipeline;

Oil pump wear: Wear of the internal blades and pump body of the oil pump or failure of the oil seal will lead to a decrease in the lifting power of the dump truck.

4. Troubleshoot control valve problems

Lift valve blow-by: Valve core wear, valve body damage, or valve core movement is not smooth, which will cause the dump truck to be unable to lift;

Hand control valve function: Confirm whether the hand control valve operates normally and whether the command can be correctly transmitted to the dump truck hydraulic system.

5. Mechanical component inspection

Lifting mechanism: Check whether the connecting rods, pins and other components of the dump truck are worn, deformed or stuck;

Frictional resistance: Clean the debris between the dump truck compartment and frame, and apply grease appropriately to reduce frictional resistance.

If the cause of the fault still cannot be determined through the above steps, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel for further diagnosis, especially if it involves internal wear of the dump truck hydraulic pump or complex valve body failure. Regular maintenance and timely inspections can effectively extend the service life of the dump truck and ensure operating efficiency.
